Healthy Homemade Turkey Jalapeno Burgers

These burgers are a lower calorie alternative to beef burgers, but still very tasty. You can eat them by themselves, or dress up it up with a bun and all the fixings.

Prep time: 10 mins  I  Cook time: 15 mins I Total time: 25 mins  I Serves: makes 6 burgers

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground Turkey
  • 1/2 cup diced white onion
  • 2 crushed/thinly sliced garlic gloves, or use 2 tbsp freeze dried garlic
  • 1 small – medium Jalapeno
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp. dijon mustard
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Pepper

Optional extras:

  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese / 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs

Notes about recipe:

  • If you want the burgers extra spicy, include the seeds from the Jalapeno’s
  • If you wear contacts make sure to touch the jalapeno’s as little as possible (I usually grab the peppers with a paper towel), especially the seeds. If not you’re in for a painful treat, taking your contacts out at night will sting a little but putting one back in in the morning will be very unenjoyable; clearly talking from experience here, sadly on more than one occasion (see below). That, or wash your hands like this after.
